It turns out I always have many thoughts racing through my mind, its been that way since I was a kid, at times it kept me up at night until I learned how to deal with them. Besides the constant brain flow I experience I hardly never have the urge to put them in writing that is until I see one of my favorite thought provoking shows on TV or is it HBO (that was a hint). There are a few shows that inspire me in this legible way but I won’t mention them at this time but maybe I will be so moved to share later in the near future (but what is the true definition of near.
That’s what my obsession at least for the purpose of these writings will center around, what is the truth? What is the truth about America, what is the truth about the way we think, what is the truth about what we want…… Truth Thought. Maybe I should change the name of this page to that, hummm.
I just listened to an interesting debate about the lack of an American lapel pin on the jacket of Barack Obama, I guess this came up during a debate or something, I'm not sure they weren’t specific. What’s interesting is that this lack of pin when everyone else had one on (the candidates that is) started a slew of questions which spilled over into the “news for the sake of news shows” as I call them. Attacking him for not choosing to wear a pin. I’m not going to get into how petty and frivolous it is that during a presidential debate and campaign, for the leader of the greatest nation in the world (our country – America), that they get so distracted by something that holds absolutely no relevance or importance at all, because I believe the readers of this already know that. What concerns me is where you are all. I wonder is the media “truly” powerful (and it is) because the people of my country are “truly” sheep and therefore do/believe whatever they are told. Or are the people of my country not sheep, just sleeping.
This is per capita the most educated nation in the world. Not that we are necessarily the smartest, we might not be the resident country with the highest IQ citizen, but we are the country with the highest educational standard in the world. Meaning we have the most educated people (high school and above) citizens percentage wise compared to any other country. On of the powers of education is the gift of thought, the ability to listen and process information for ourselves and come of with the reasonable next step. Now I realize that this next step is where subjectivity, personality and culture come into the picture but the word: reasonable does start with the word reason and therefore is based on logic. Where are the huge percentages of us that are educated, that can logically process information for ourselves and begin to control our environment (media included) and tell those asking the questions that we don’t care who says Hee Haw!!!, we care who is swayed to vote according to their highest paying lobbyist, we don’t care who chooses to call their God by a different name, we care who hires a great number of their staff from their church, and we don’t care who wears a lapel pin of the American flag, we care who takes America into war for reasons we are still all guessing about. Are we so tired from all the studying that we are now just SLEEPING???
